FLU SHOT??? POLL

I am 11w pregnant, due in May - I never got the flu shot. dont really believe in it. anyway. with my first pregnancy i found out i was pregnant begining of december (due in Aug)
and didn't get the flu shot and i was fine.
however this year i am debating about it because im already sick, DD gets sick, i feel like germs are everywhere. im just freaked out bc my DH and my mom who got the flu shot once were extremely sick after getting it :/

any advice...???

Yep got it with this pregnancy AND with my first. I work in healthcare so I am constantly around patients who may or may not be sick. Its in my best interest to get the shot. My ob highly recommended it as well.

I just wanted to add that I never had a reaction to the shot and only received it while pregnant. Never had the shot before. My dh just got the shot for the first time about a month ago and no side effects whatsoever. Its totally up to you if you want to or not.

I got it bc our doc recommended it. I'm due in Jan.
For three days it hurt if I touched that area but other than that I got zero symptoms.

Already got it. I got it last week. I am 28w now and my Dr strongly recommended it.

I got mine at Target.

Absolutely 100% getting it. I got it when I was pregnant with my son too. Before being pregnant, I never got it. Getting the flu while pregnant can be FAR more detrimental to the baby than any potential side effect from the vaccine. Not to mention, if you get the shot while pregnant, the baby has that immunity for the first 6 months (when they are too young to get the flu shot themselves). To me, it's not worth the risk to not get the vaccine.

Yes, I get it every year and since DD is due right after christmas I wanted to make sure she was protected from the flu as well.

i never got it when i was pregnant. i did get it this year because my DD was a preemie and she is too young to get it herself so she can get the immunity through my breast milk. DH and I both got it and we both did get colds that week although i think its a coincidence because we def didnt have the flu. i still would prefer to not get it though.

I'm getting one. I've never had a bad reasction to them. I rarely get too sick in the winter but a couple of winters ago I got strep throat bad. I know it's not the same but it BLEW and I want to prevent getting sick and missing work this season. DH and I commute to and from the cityand around so many people every day. germ central!

I will definitely be getting it this year and so will DH. We dont normally get them but we both had the swine flu 2 yrs ago and do not wish to revisit that while Im pregnant

For me it was never a question as I've always gotten the flu shot. I ran it by my doctor anyway and he said to definitely get it. You can request the preservative free shot which is what I got this time around.

I got it.. and got it with DS too.. I can't even stand a small headache and not being able to take anything for it.. The last thing I want is the flu. I never got it before DS either but all I had to worry about then was only me. Now if I get sick then my DH will get it and then DS will get it... not worth it in my book when its preventable..

My RE basically demanded I get it. I will get one after I get out of the first trimester. I had an mc in May so I am very nervous about everything. I know its crazy but for me its just superstition that I need to wait.

I got one and so did DH. I normally wouldn't get it but my doctor insisted on it. I felt like crap for a few days after it too.

I've been battling a common cold for OVER 3 weeks that took my husband & son 2 days to get over.

I can't IMAGINE what the flu duing pregnancy would be like.

Immunocompromised from pregnancy is SERIOUS.

Where should I go for the flu shot? My OB hasn't mentioned it and I keep forgetting to ask him about it. I don't really have a PCP that I go to. Should I just go to Walgreens and get it there? Or should I wait until 2 weeks when I see my OB next and ask him about it?

all of my drs- RE, OB, Peri - all recommended the flu shot.

They distribute them at my office every year so I got mine about 3 weeks ago.

I got the preservative free one and had no issues.

When I was pregnant with my DD I got one as well.

I never have before and I'm not getting one now. Neither is DD.
