Flu shot or not?
My GYN told me to get the flu shot. I am in my 19th week. My Primary doctor told me he would not recommend it. What do you ladies think? What has your doctors told you?

I do not know why your PMD would say that. It's recommended that all pregnant women get the flu shot. I did, and would do it again.

I was gonna say the same thing. Pregnant women have always been at the top of the list of people recommended to get it. That's because coming down with the flu can be extremely dangerous to the unborn baby. There is no harm in getting the shot, as it is not a live shot.

ITA. I just got the mercury free one at my doctor's office last week. I was almost 11 weeks at the time. I also got it when I was in the 3rd trimester with DS. Other than a sore arm for a few days, I've never had any side effects from the flu shot.

ITA to this! With my 1st pregnancy it was the year of the separate swine flu shot and I got that one as well even with all the controversy. Pregnant women can die from the flu...I'd get the shot!

same!!! I've NEVER gotten the flu shot in my life...until now.
Besides the fact that the flu can KILL an otherwise healthy pregnant woman, it's also the ONLY way that my baby will be protected from the flu when he or she is born.... <<<< this is the reason I got it.
LO is due in February, and there will be sick people everywhere, it's inevitable...so who knows what germs will be coming in and out of my house, even if nobody is actually sick (carriers u know?) babies can't be vaccinated against the flu til 6mos old so I got it done solely for that reason.
