Just an FYI, December might not be very warm. Nights are cool too.
Naples area (west coast/gulf side) is 1 1/2 drive. The zoo in Miami is nice. I've done the duck tour in South beach, that was fun.

There is the Hard Rock Casino in Fort Lauderdale, they have a lot of restaurants and shops.
Pompano is a really nice town, it will be a very relaxing vacation. DH and I went down there 2 years ago.

West Palm Beach is about an hour away from Fort Lauderdale.
Look into McCarthy's Wildlife Sanctuary. A friend of mine just went there about two weeks ago and got to see the baby tigers. Literally sit with them and play with them.

That is super fantastic thanks for posting! I just called the sanctuary bc we will be down in Dec also and they said the lion cub experience will most likely not still be available ( only up to 40 lbs for the cubs so too dangerous after that) but they said they may have other things available so call back.
Either way it looks like an amazing place to visit, thanks!!
