Flood in our family room!!!
We have a split. DH came home last night and went downstairs into our family room and stepped in water. Thought the dogs had an accident but then discovered that the floor was soaked and the ceiling was falling down! Our bathroom is above the family room and something leaked/flooded. I think it might have been our jacuzzi tub. We never use it but the other night, DS didn't want to take a bath so to make him happy, we turned on the jets for him. Something must be broken inside the tub and the water must have been sitting in the ceiling all day and finally crashed through after I went to bed! Also, when DH went into the bathroom, the bathroom floor was covered in water! It wasn't from the sink because everything under the sink was dry. It didn't come from the bathroom ceiling because there was no evidence of that. It must have seaped through the tiles!!!
We've been trying to soak up the water in the family room but it isn't working. We're going to have to replace the wall to wall carpet.
There is a huge hole in the ceiling now and I'm worried b/c we have high hats in that room.
Should I call the insurance company and make a claim or let DH try to fix it all???
If we call some one, who should we call? A plumber? Any recommendations? We're in Massapequa Park.

I would call a plumber first and see where the problem is and find out the cost of that. Then you can add the cost of the carpet & repair of the ceiling. It might be worth the claim, but maybe not. KWIM? Sorry I don't have a plumber to recommend to you. GL!

Call a plumber to get the leak stopped. They'll advise you on your next steps on repair.

Oh no!
I agree with the other ladies I would call a plumber first and get an esitmate on fixing the leak. I would guess its worth an insurance claim unless you plan on fixing the ceiling and laying the carpet yourself.
I have used Sal Manzo Plumbing in Wantagh a few times and recommend them.
