flinging food off high chair
my DD is almost 22 months and oh my god. she is constantly and forever throwing her food off the high chair when she no longer wants to eat it. i have ANTS in my house as a result!!! we have yelled at her, said no firmly, taken the food off the tray but nothing seems to discourage this bad habit. is this normal? a phase? how do i get her to stop??? it is making me mental!

I hope it is normal, since my 17 month old ds does it as well. He also throws his sippy cup. It drives me and dh nuts

DD is 17 monts and started doing this when she was 1. Thankfully she doesn't throw, she just drops it and watches it fall. Every time she does it I give her "the look" and tell her we don't throw food on the floor. She only does it when she is done eating and bored so I take the food away at that point. She has only done it once or twice in the past few months so maybe it worked

My DS is 16 months and does the same thing. It drives me crazy. I'm at the point where I don't put too much food on his high chair and I'm clearing away all distractions from him. I usually give him a toy to play with but lately I have been trying to just have the focus on food and him eating. It's so frustrating cause I'll tell him no but he doesn't get it. He gets speech so I'm trying to teach him the sign for all done so that I can clean him up before he starts to make a mess.

oh yes it's normal and horrible! dd does it and it drives us crazy! Im hoping this phase passes soon. dh keeps telling her, "I can't wait til I'm old and you have to take care of me. I'm just throwing all of my food everywhere."

DD will be 2 next Sat and she still does this. For a while now. Drives me nuts. This morning I put her in a time out bc she threw scrambled eggs on the floor and strawberries. After her time out I made her pick up every last piece and put it in the garbage. Doesn't phase her one bit. Any minute now this phase will pass, any minute!
