Flat spot
One of my twins has a little flat spot on the back of his head. In wondering if I should stop using the rnp for sleeping and naps. Does anyone have any experience with this situation? Could it be caused by the rnp or would anything have caused this if a baby is prone to it?? Thanks

Re: Flat spot
You can get a noggin nest that will keep the head from laying on the hard rnp

Re: Flat spot
The noggin nest cradles the head so the back barely touches what the baby is laying in. U can also use it in the carseat. We used it for my dd when she had a slight flat spot and it helped

Re: Flat spot
I went through this. It's not caused by the RNP, per se, but can happen if the baby is constantly on the back of their head. We had to keep her off the back of her head whenever possible (e.g., bumbo, exersaucer, jumperoo) and try turning her head from side to side when she was on her back. When she was old enough to roll over, we put her on her belly to sleep (per ped) and with all of those things combined, the issue corrected itself.

Re: Flat spot
How old? My girls are 3 mo and I just asked the ped. They said it was fine and will round out as they become more upright. NB heads are soft so this happens. At this age they on in their backs most of the time whether they are in a crib, rnp, swing, eyc. Twin 1 is flat in the back to one side since this is how she sleeps.

Flat spot
DD had a flat spot but since she's been sitting on her own, it rounded itself out.

Re: Flat spot
Thanks for the replies. I ordered the noggins:). They are 7 weeks today. I plan to put the noggin under the matrial in the rnp and I'm hoping this helps. He is still too little for the bumbo, jumperoo ect and since I have twins and the other is more needy I end up wearing my other guy a lot and this guy ends up in the swing or rnp:(.

I swear by the noggin nest. I used it in the car seat for walks and driving and in the swing. I never used when I was sleeping since it wasn't approved. My DS has a ridiculously round head and was in the R&P for 7 months every night. Def get a few of them so you don't have to move them from the car seat to swing to R&P.

What do you do when they fall asleep in the swing. Or is it ok since it's basically supervised?

It's fine to leave them sleeping in the swing. My DD slept in the bouncy seat from 4-10 weeks old.

He had the noggin nest in the swing at all times because I was always awake. If we all went to sleep, I removed it out of whatever he was currently in. Since DS never slept in the swing, I had one perm in the swing and one perm is his car seat until he was 8 months old.

Yeah I can't wait to get the noggins. I just felt the part of the swing where the head goes and even with the provided pad it's so hard! I ordered one for each twin even though only one twin has the spot. Someone also td me to rub his head

One of my twins had this and wore a helmet for a few months. Here's a link w/ some information: LINK
You should mention it to your ped at the next appointment. In the meantime, try to do as much tummy time as possible.

THIS!
Depending on the severity, a noggin nest may not help. It is important to discuss with your pediatrician.
My twins both had helmets for plagio (one's flat spot was more severe than the other). They both also had PT for torticollis.
