flat rate moving quotes

which company did you use to get a flat rate for moving? Every one I'm calling is hourly... and the one flat rate I just got was $1500 for a tiny 1 bedroom apt! Frustrating....

It's not a flat rate, but we had Ken's Moving & Storage come this past Saturday for a quote. We are moving from a one bedroom in Queens to Nassau County and they are also making a pit stop in Bayside at my parents house for a bedroom, dining room set and a treadmill and the quote was less then $900!

Where are you moving from? I am moving my one-bedroom apt in Manhattan 25 blocks north to a 2-bedroom apartment in Manhattan. I called all of the places recommended on this board, and was quoted anywhere from $850 - $1100 + supplies. We ended up reserving Imperial Moving and Storage. They were highly recommended on citysearch and have been great to work with so far. We got a great rate of $650 for 3 men for 6 hours (although it should not take that long) and it included wardrobes and supplies! A "flat rate" would have been more. We are moving May 4th, so I will know more then.

thanks for the suggestions! I guess I used the wrong term when I said 'flat rate'.... I just meant someone who wouldn't charge hourly...I read that they rip you off that way... We are only moving 10 miles and have a 1 bedroom apt. We just got married 6 months ago and certainly don't have a lot of things. Not sure why I'm getting quotes so high. I'll try those 2 places you just mentioned though...thanks!
