Flat Irons
I'm looking to buy a new flat iron. What kind does everyone here have?? Is there a really big difference between the more expensive ones like the Chi and the less expensive ones like remington or revlon etc.? I'm so confused!!

Re: Flat Irons
Nobody here uses a flat iron, or is everyone getting brazilian straightening?

Re: Flat Irons
I have the CHI Ceramic Flat Iron (Original 1")
I use it to straighten and curl my hair. It is awesome.
I used to have the hot tools and it was good, but not great. When I was much younger, I had one from a drugstore and it did not straighten my hair at all.
ETA: I have relatively straight hair and I prefer the Chi. Well worth the extra $$.

Re: Flat Irons
I have the ghd and I love it. Awhile ago I had a solano one (which is cheaper I think) and the ghd is a LOT better. I would check makeupalley for reviews if you're thinking of a particular one.

Re: Flat Irons
I love my Remington!
First one I got for $30 at Target- lasted me 5 years.
I just bought my second one about a year ago and its working great.

Re: Flat Irons
I think it depends on your hair type. If your hair is already reasonably straight and you just want to smooth it with the flat iron, I imagine a drugstore one will work ok for you.
My hair is coarse and curly-- 've owned my CHI since 2004, but before that I did try a Revlon. There is no comparison, the CHI is so vastly superior to the drugstore models.

Re: Flat Irons
I use the CHI. I had a Remington (?) Pink Tourmaline and you could see it was stripping my hair of it's dye. Weird. It also tended to snag my hair a lot in the plates. No complaints with the CHI!

Re: Flat Irons
I have a Chi. I have straight hair so I thought any old straightener would work. I was wrong!! My sister had a chi and used it to straighten my hair- the difference was insane. My hair was so much softer with the Chi. Plus my hair didn't get stuck and ripped out because of the plates. I don't straighten my hair often but it was well worth the money!

Re: Flat Irons
I get straightening now, but I used to love the Italian irons with the combs attached. I forget the brand now. But quality costs money and shows great results.
