flat head question-edit "moderate bracycephaly"-

Edited bc its bracycephaly, not plagiocephaly, or however they're spelled

DS has had a flat head since month two but my ped always said not to worry about it. Now, we've switched peds and my new ped said that although it's very minor, she was willing to refer us to an orthotics place to see if they think he needs one.

DH took DS today and the doctor was sort of wishy washy on whether he should get it, and if it would help. He is 8 months old and apparently its on the later side? He did some measurements and said he has moderate plagiocephaly. I also worry about him having to wear it for so long (23 hours a day/3 months) especially now in the heat of summer. I'm pissed we just didnt do it in the beginning. His head is flat and you can see it from certain angles. What do you think? I wasnt at the appointnment to be able to ask questions and DH didnt really know what to think.

Is he sleeping on his back still? Ds had a flat spot and when he switched to belly sleeping at 4 months the flat spot went away.

he's been belly sleeping since about 4 months! he's practically never on his back anymore. i think it's improved slightly but its still bad.

flat head question-

It sounds to me that it is very minor and unless they are thinking that it will interfere with things later in life I would not do it at this point. It sounds like the doctor didn't even seem sure if he needed it, plus if they are thinking its on the later side t start the helmet, it might not even help. I would not worry about it

I would call and ask the dr questions. He is a boy so b he may not be able to cover it with hair later in life
