First sono question

Good morning ladies! Ok so I finally have my first appointment this Thursday at 6:15 & I have a few questions. The first sono is internal right? Do I get to see the baby? Will I hear the heartbeat? Is the internal painful? How long does the actual appointment take? Ahhh I am so excited & nervous I just want to fast forward till Thursday so I can make sure everything's ok and breath a little easier Chat Icon

Re: First sono question

Mine was internal, I did see the baby and hear the heartbeat. It looked like a little gummy bear! And it didn't hurt. The sono thing is thin.

Good luck!

First sono question

It is internal and does not hurt. Whether or not you hear the heartbeat will be based on how far along you are. 6+ weeks and you will most likely see it.

My OB wanted me to come in for a sono at 6 weeks, and we decided to wait because I didn't want to stress if I didn't hear one. So we did it at 8 weeks and I was SO glad we did! It was a long wait, but when we did see it, it was so clear! :D

At 9 weeks it will be internal. You should see and hear the heartbeat. You'll also be able to see the shape of the baby....body head arms legs
Congrats!

First sono question

At nine weeks the sonogram is internal. It does not hurt at all. You should be able to see the baby and the heart beat.

Re: First sono question

I was expecting it to be an internal so when she told me to have a seat and lift up my shirt I was happily surprised. I said, "Oh, I thought it would be an internal!" and she said, "It MIGHT be, but I always try external first"

That was at 8w2d. We saw and heard the perfect little heartbeat, even with the external Chat Icon

Re: First sono question

Was it internal?
Yes for me it was because I was 6 weeks.

Do I get to see the baby?

Again, depends how far you are, but you should see something. At 6 weeks, I saw the little heart beating!!!

Will I hear the heartbeat?
again, depends how far along you are.

Is the internal painful? nope. uncomfortable a little.

How long does the actual appointment take?
I went in just for the sono so it was quick.

ENJOY!!!! It's sooo exciting and fun :)
