First RE Appointment Tomorrow - UPDATED AGAIN WITH CHART

I'm nervous, anxious and sad all at the same time. I'm going to meet Dr. Brenner at LI IVF tomorrow in Melville for a consult. I've written down a bunch of questions/concerns as I have thought of them since I made the appointment 2 weeks ago. Any tips/advice?

And as luck would have it, I hit a peak on my CBEFM and got a smiley on the digital today as well. Looks like I am going to ovulate a few days earlier this cycle. Is this going to be a problem or is it perhaps perfect timing?

UPDATE
So I had my appointment yesterday with Dr. Brenner. First off, what a nice office! Everyone was super friendly.

Basically we went over my history and test results from my CD3 bw, HSG and DH’s SA from July. We have been TTC for about a year (depending on how you define “trying”) and have not found any issues that could be getting in the way. He said it was a LITTLE concerning that at my young age and being healthy, that it was taking this long. He didn’t seem too concerned about the Lupus Anti-coagulant that showed up in my bw, but suggested that I still follow up on it to be sure. The one thing I was a little uncomfortable with his that he right away started suggesting Clomid for my next cycle. I told him I wasn’t really sure if I was at that point yet, since we haven’t really identified any problems. I also told him that I had surged and gotten a peak reading on my CBEFM on Tuesday morning and then another smiley and peak Wednesday morning with FMU, in which case I figured that either I was about to ovulate or already had sometime yesterday before the appointment. He did a full exam and when he did the sono he did not see any follicles large enough to indicate that I was about to O. However, according to him, it was possible that I already had and he just wasn’t seeing the follicle. I started to get upset at that point because last month (which was my first month temping), I had pretty erratic temperatures and couldn’t clearly identify O by looking at my temperatures. Although everything else indicated that I did (CBEFM, CM, O cramps, OPK’s). This month, my temps were much more consistent and as of yesterday, had not jumped. I explained this to him and he said that if I did O today, then tomorrow (meaning today) my temp should go up. He did a full round of bloodwork along with a progesterone test. I am waiting for the call today to see if I did ovulate. If the test doesn’t come back indicating that I did, then I have to go back on Monday to test again. But I am not seeing any more surges so if I didn’t O already, I don’t think I am going to Plus, this morning, my temp only went up a tiny bit (basically to the coverline), so now I’m stressing out that maybe the problem is that I am just not ovulating and all this time I had nothing indicating that.

If that turns out not to be the issue, then my next step is to have an endometrial biopsy a couple of days before AF is due. Then I have to decide if I want to start Clomid. DH and I discussed this last night, and at this point, if they identify a problem this cycle, then of course we are going to go ahead and take the necessary steps to correct it. If everything comes back normal, then we need to decide if I should start on the Clomid and then possibly move on to an IUI. I’m trying not to get too far ahead of myself here, but of course my mind is racing. Meanwhile, they are sending out my blood for genetic testing and all that other fancy stuff.

Overall, I am definitely happy that I went to see a specialist, now I hope I can just get some answers. When I was lying there having my blood drawn, I was staring at the ceiling thinking to myself “Is this really me sitting here? How on earth did I get here?” The tears were building up BIG time. When I left, I felt good about at least having somewhat of a plan in place. I looked at Dr. Brenner and said “Well, thanks you – but I really hope I don’t see you in 2 weeks”. He laughed and said “ I hope not”.

2ND UPDATE
Well they just called – test shows that I did NOT ovulate and I have to repeat the test on Monday to see if I did between yesterday and then. Which wouldn’t be such a big deal, except for the fact that the sonogram yesterday did not show any follicles big enough to really be close to Oing. Which means that even if I do O, in the next day or so, then my LP is actually 10 or less, when I’ve thought all this time that it was 11-12. I’m really just praying at this point that I O today and that tomorrow my temp goes up to indicate so. If not, then my next hope is that I do O before Monday at which point I am going to ask for the progesterone since the problem might then be that I have a LP defect. I’m so confused right now. Of all the things that I thought might possibly be wrong – this was never one of them. I just don’t understand why my body is defying me like this. I feel like I should at least have had some sort of symptom that there might be a problem – other than a years worth of BFN’s.

UPDATE 8/12
So my temperature went up today. I'm hoping that means that I ovulated yesterday and for some reason the sono on Tuesday just wasn't showing the follicle. That is possible right?
My only issue now is that fertility friend marked Monday as my O day and I know that is not true since the Progesterone test indicated so. Should I override this and mark yesterday as O day? I reallly feel like it should be CD 13. If anyone can take a look at my chart and let me know your opinion I'd really appreciate it. I'm really new to temping.

It's great that you have jotted down whatever questions/concerns that you have, that way you get the most out of consultation. I would also bring along whatever testing you have done already, that way the RE gets a little bit of an idea of what type of issues or non-issues he's dealing with. If you haven't done any testing yet don't sweat it because trust me - now's your chance to get everything covered Since you got your smiley it means that the RE won't be able to help you get pregnant this cycle. But maybe you get lucky with some good old this month!

Good luck! I was so nervous for my first appointment, but there’s really absolutely nothing to be nervous about. They’ll go over your history, do some bloodwork, and a sono. I promise you’ll leave there so much less stressed because you’ll be on the right track.

Hopefully you O'd and he just didnt see it - but if not - i would defiantely focus attention on trying to determine whether or not there is a problem with you O-ing first.

As for the clomid, i tried it this month (I have normal cycles - O on my own) and i have to say i totally regret it. It completely dried up my CM and nothing helped it(robituissin etc) and i beleive my follies got too big and might not even have produce a good egg. I would suggest doing plenty of research before going into it blind like i did.

Do not stress out yet! B/w will show if you O'd, so you will know for sure. It is always better to know for sure, not just guess based on T.
Hm.. I do not know, but I am not liking the fact that he suggested Clomid this fast either. He needs to pinpoint the issue, I think. Does he suspect PCOS? Did he check thyroid?
I am not a dr, of course, just voicing out my thoughts.
by the way, what is endometrial biopsy? and what is the purpose of it? did you have abnormal Pap?

it does look like you may have Oed based on the temp rise, but i think its very odd that you had no mature follies, or near mature follies on the sono and would O only a few days later. they tend to grow about 2mm a day so you would have had at least SOMETHING on the sono at your appointment. i suppose weirder things could happen but i would be cautious and wait for a few consecutive days of a temp rise to confirm O.

I hope the next sonogram shows that you did ovulate. I know it can be overwhelming but you are taking the first steps to get PG! Hope you get the answers you need and a BFP soon!
