first ivf...please share your experiences!

Hi Ladies,

I have been a "lurker" for many months now and even though I haven't posted much, you all have helped me so much through this long, frustrating process.

Here's a quick backstory on me...
After being diagnosed with PCOS, I was referred to an RE and after only one IUI, I became pregnant with my beautiful daughter (now 19 months old). After having her, my cycles were like clockwork and I thought,"Okay, maybe this means number 2 will be easier to conceive." I was wrong!!
Now, we have gone through 3 IUIs with no luck and are currently going through our first IVF cycle. I will be triggering tonight with our retrieval scheduled for Saturday morning. I am really not sure what to expect after the trigger (extreme pain??? I have like 30 follicles!) Also how did you feel after the retrieval?

Anything else you'd like to share is so greatly appreciated! Thanks for listening!

I just had my 2nd retrieval a week ago.

For my first IVF cycle, I had 35 follicles. Afterward, I really just felt lots of BLOATING! I wasn't in pain- but I know it's different for everyone. I just remember the bloating being uncomfortable.

This time around, I had close to 50 follicles and honestly felt FINE. Maybe it's that I'm just so used to the bloating that I didn't notice Chat Icon Chat Icon but I really felt fine to go about my day the day after the retrieval. I was tired, but that's about it.

I know the experience varies and I have definitely read of people people sore the next few days, but for the two that I had, it wasn't bad at all!!

I'm trying to think of anything else I have to share.. but I can't think of much other than I'm wishing you LOADS of luck and feel free to FM if you ever have any questions!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Oh- I will add.. I'm assuming with 30 follies you are triggering with lupron and will be using progesterone in oil. Those are not nearly as bad as you think they will be. Ice the area first and use a heating pad after. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thank you!!

I am triggering with Lupron and... CRAP!! I was hoping to get the suppositories! I'll find out for sure tonight. I'm waiting for the delivery as we speak.

The other injections were no sweat, but I have to say I have really been hoping against the oil!
