First IUI- epic fail
I turned 36 today and I thought this would be it. I shouldn't have set myself up for such high hopes I was trying to be calm and I never even did POAS because my Dr. appointment is scheduled for tomorrow morning anyway. I was so careful and cautious throughout the whole 2ww... AF came this morning. TODAY? she had to pick today? FML
It was a natural cycle iui. So what do I do next? how many iui can I have before we go to IVF?
Also, does anyone think I should be going to an RI instead of an RE? I didn't have any issues in all of my testing so far, but I do have Multiple Sclerosis. I'm wondering if I should?
To all of you who have endured so much in your long hard process, my heart goes out to you... the pain must be unbearable. This is just the beginning and I was a wreck today, I can't imagine what you're going through...

Re: First IUI- epic fail
i am so sorry it did not work..it is so frustrating when that happens
i am not aure how many iui u do..it depends on the doc..we did 8 before moving on but i know some that moved on after a few..depends on ur dx and the doc
i am not sure of the effects of ms and fertility but i am glad i went to a RI bc i had issues i never knew about that are now being addressed
best of luck to you

Re: First IUI- epic fail
Im so sorry Im actually not sure what a RI is so I cant help you there but I just wanted to say ovr time it gets easier to "deal with". Some doctors will advise moving to IVF sooner depending on age. If you want to be more aggressive then you may want to move on sooner. Def speak with the Dr ab your concerns though... Good luck!!

Re: First IUI- epic fail
I think between your RE and your Dr that is treating you fro MS they should be able to come up with a plan.
I would think the next step might be medicated cycles with an IUI. It really depends on all your issues. If MS is the only thing IUIs might be fine (but I don't know enough about MS to say for sure).
I did my IUIs with clomid and they did not work. I thought for sure that my first would work and it was a big disappointment. IUIs aren't perfect....they only get the swimmers there at the right time....they still have to swim the right way.

Sorry this cycle was a bust.
I agree with Gina, try to have your RE and your regular doc work out a plan that is best for you.
From my personal experience, my insurance requires 6 IUI before approving IVF. Good luck!

Re: First IUI- epic fail
I don't know much about MS, but I wouldn't assume from one failed IUI that you need IVF. The chance of an IUI working is around 20% any given cycle (maybe a little more)... For it not to work one cycle does not mean it won't work the next. It's never a guarantee- even IVF isn't a guarantee any given cycle.
I'm really sorry the first one didn't work though... I def know what it's like to think the first big jump will work and how sad it is when it doesn't!!

Re: First IUI- epic fail
thanks to all of you- especially those of you who have tragically lost. this problem seems to teeny compared to what you've endured. Still, your words mean a lot.
I haven't had any dx at all :( I don't know if that is a blessing or a curse. Unexplained IF is tough. We know it's not my DH- his numbers are like 52 million and 97% mot.
So now, we go on Clomid. It may increase my chances.... I just didnt know if any of you would suggest me going straight to IVF if I can. If I sound like I'm in a hurry, I am. I am risking a horrible debilitating MS attack every day that I am off my medication. I'm so scared....
