First flight w dd next week

I'm nervous about the flights and being away from home without all of our normal gear.

Anything I have to have with me? Anything I think I need but really don't? We are going to fl and dd is 4 1/2 months roughly. There is a babies r us close by so I can buy stuff (formula, diapers) down there.

I would bring a Bjorn (or any time of carrier)- it's nice to have when going through security and such so your arms are free.

Also bring a copy of her birth certificate - it's obvious she's under 2 but, my friend was recently told TSA has been cracking down and everyone should be asking to see it (I've flown many times with both DCs but, have only been asked once).

Re: First flight w dd next week

That age was the easiest to fly bc then they're not trying to run. LOL!

Where are you staying? A hotel?

For the plane ride give her a bottle when you take off and when you land. They allow you to have liquids for a baby.
Change of clothes in case and extra diapers and wipes.
Also, bring the bjorn bc it's easier to walk around.
You can gate check the car seat and stroller.
Depending on where you stay you'll know what you need. Obviously pack diapers, wipes, lots of clothes, hats, blankets, etc.

Florida isn't a long flight so that's good and like you said... everything is right there if you need to buy anything.

Staying at my inlaws vacation condo. We will be using our travel baby bjorn crib for the first time. Should I do a trial run with that here first?

I also agree with bringing some form of carrier so you can have your hands free. It made boarding the plane so much easier! I wore DS throughout the airport and loaded up the stroller with whatever I could (We gate checked it).

If you're bottle feeding and have to keep milk cold. Make sure the icepacks are in the frozen state otherwise they won't get through security.

Offer a bottle (or nurse) during take off/landing; I did this when DS was just a little shy of 5 months and he slept during take off and landing. It was the easiest flight. I had a few toys packed and some books but he never even needed them.

Bring not only a change of clothes for the baby; but for yourself as well!!

And a big ziploc bag to store any clothes that get wet/soiled while on the plane.

Keep a stash of diapers/wipes/ointment etc handy so you don't have to fish for it on the plane.

Pee before you board because if the baby falls asleep on you; your stuck :)

I bought a travel bag for my stroller to protect it; glad I did because the bag came back so dirty. I wouldn't have wanted to see what my stroller would have looked like w/out bag!

have fun!! It's really so easy when they're that little!
