First Drs appointment
I have my first drs appointment tomorrow. I'm currently 6 weeks and 3 days tomorrow. What should I expect? Do I have a sonogram and will I be able to hear the heartbeat? So excited, but a little nervous at the same time TIA

Re: First Drs appointment
congrats! my first appt was a big disappointment- not going to lie. she confirmed the pregnancy and i went for blood work but i had to schedule a separate appt for a sono b/c my periods are very irregular and she wanted to be sure of how far long i was and my due date. i understood but i was so disappointed. so we didn't see/hear anything until 8 weeks nor did i get a due date until then either.

Re: First Drs appointment
The OB wouldn't even let me come in until they thought I was at least 8 weeks along. I went to my GP when I got my BFP and they did a blood test to confirm the pregnancy and try to date me (I had long irregular cycles, so they used the beta # to give me an estimate of how far along I was). The 8 week appointment involved taking a bunch of blood, a yearly exam (pap), and a sono where we saw the baby and heard the hb. They also measured the baby on the sono to estimate a due date for me (which, apparently was DEAD-ON, as my daughter was born exactly 1 day early).
Every doctor's office is different, though, so yours may do for you at 6 weeks what mine did at 8. Or they may just take some blood to confirm and not do a sono. I know my OB's office only does 3 sonos the ENTIRE PREGNANCY unless there are complications.

Re: First Drs appointment
My first appointment is tomorrow as well and I'm not sure what to expect...last time around they did do a sono and I was only 7 wks 4 days but they only did it because they were concerned it may have been an tubal pregnancy, otherwise they would have made me wait until 8 wks. This time around if you go by my last period I'll be 7 wk 6 d tomorrow but my cycles are so irregular that I think I'm only 5 wk 2 days if I've pinpointed correctly the day I think we conceived. So I am hoping for the sono and a real due date so I can stop wondering...but they may make me wait

Re: First Drs appointment
we had our first appointment last week and i was exactly the same amount along as you! they did an internal sonogram and we could only see the heartbeat. we also got some pictures to take home. the tech took some measurements and told us the due date. it was quick and painless and exciting!
