First doctors appt.?

What happens at the first Appt? Should DH go with me? I will be 8 weeks.

It depends on your practice. They will do bloodwork. Prepare for several vials of blood being drawn - drink water before hand and make sure you eat. You might have a sono, but not all practices do them in house, so it depends on what your Dr can do. They will give you a prescription for PreNatals if they have not already, and might even give you the schedule of things to come.

They also might do a Pap and an internal exam.

I was glad I had DH with me. My first appointment was 8w,6d. My doc asked a million questions about our medical histories (both sides) and I probably wouldn't have been able to answer everything. She also did a regular exam with pap since I was due for it.

She did a sono and we got to see our little bean (and heartbeat!) and I was so happy that he was with me for that. Had to pee in a cup and get loads of blood taken.

At 8 weeks they will likely do a sono (except if they don't do it in house like the PP said) so definitely bring him if you want him there for that. Give a call to the office to find out what you can expect.

My first appointment was basically an annual exam. I was also sent for bloodwork (I had it done at a lab a few days later). I had a sono 2 weeks later. You should call your doctor's office so you know what to expect since every office does things differently.

I went at 7 weeks. They did a sono, bloodwork and we spoke with the doctor. DH came, it was a great experience
