First appointment with RE
I have my first appointment with Dr. Copperman of RMA early next month. I was referred by my gyn who did a hormone workup earlier this month. My gyn said that the hormone levels are indicative of PCOS which was a total shock to me since I have very regular cycles and none of the other classic symptons of PCOS.
Anyway, what should I anticipate at this first meeting? When i called to make an appointment she said that the Dr. would review my records, consult and possible do a transvaginal sonogram.
What questions should I ask? THis is all so new and frustrating. My insurance also does not cover Dr. Copperman so I would like to make the most of each appointment.
Thanks ladies!

Re: First appointment with RE
My first appointment was exactly what you described, minus the sonogram. I just sat down the night before and wrote a bunch of questions on a pad....I had questions about my spotting issues and other things unique to me. The RE will most likely go over everything else, as far as what he thinks for your future, etc.
Also, don't stress too much about anything your gyn has told you....they are not experts in the area of IF. I found that out when I went to see the RE and realized my gyn didn't really know what he was talking about!
Good luck!!!!

Re: First appointment with RE
Honestly, we didn't bring any questions with us. The dr knows what type of things people ask and usually includes that info during the consultation.
I was VERY nervous before my first appt. I left there feeling VERY HOPEFUL and was super relieved.
The dr asked a lot of questions, took a lot of blood and did a sono. She also set up a lot of tests for me to take.
GL!

Re: First appointment with RE
I go to RMA of NY but in White Plains. I've seen Dr. Copperman a few times. He actually did my last retrieval. I'll be honest, he has a great reputation and I've had success there but he does not have much of a bedside manner (at least to me).
If I were you I would try to understand what your doctor feels is the hormonal issue so when he talks to you about it you'll understand.
Best of Luck to you.
RMA of NY is a very very busy practice but they are very organized.

Re: First appointment with RE
I go to Dr. Copperman. So far I've been very happy with him and RMA in general. The first appt we gave him all of our history, he looked at all of the testing we had done so far, he did a sono and then we came up with the next steps. If you have follow up questions, the nurses are very accessible and he gave us his card and said to email him.
Good luck

Re: First appointment with RE
I had questions but I never had to ask any of them. The RE covered everything. I also went in with a PCOS diagnosis from my regular gyn. The RE requested blood tests and did an internal sonogram, and we scheduled more tests for the start of the next cycle. DH also was scheduled for a SA. After all those tests were done we had another appointment with the RE where he went over everything with us.
He told us his job was to get us pregnant and I felt very hopeful after leaving the office. Good luck!!
