FIOS installation time
Can anyone tell me did Verizon FIOS really take 4-6 hrs to install?
They have blocked a 4hr window for me when they will arrive, but say that once there, it takes 4-6hours.
Is that true?

They rewire the whole house and it can take a long time...

Arrived 8:45 am
Left 4:00 pm.
My neighbor's house:
Arrived 8:15 am
Left 12:45 pm

It really depends on the current wiring in your house. If they have to re-wire the whole house and you are installing a lot of boxes, it can take all day. If you have newer wiring or you are just having a few boes installed, it will be quicker. If you ask me totally worht the wait! (I am currently OOT and cleanign up my DVR via the internet!)

they came to my house approx 9am and was there until about 3pm....so you will be lucky if it only takes 4 hrs.

They were there the whole day.
Like 9-5 or later.
I have several TVs in several rooms, computer is upstairs, etc....

FIOS was for a few hours and we were told that our house was already wired for FIOS by the previous owners. He said it takes MUCH longer when it isn't in place yet and that our job was simple.

They were at my BIL's 10+ hours. Like the PP's said, it's a major rewiring job.

They were just here on Friday. They arrived at 11am took lunch from 12:30 to 1:30pm and were gone by 3:30pm

ETA: I only got the FIOS TV service - The house was not wired previously and we only have 2 TVs

Ours was about 6+ hours. THe longest part was running 300 feet of wire outside the house to the nearest pole. They spent more time outside than inside the house. Although it was a really long install, I felt it was much more unobtrusive than I had expected

WOW, I guess I really understand then why they have a contract and cancellation fee.
Seems like alot of work on their end to get customers up and running.
Funny though, when I talked to cablevision, they claim the purpose of the contract and cancellation fee is because they know there service and product is not as good.

I wish CV would just stop their propaganda on FIOS.
It's just not good business to put dow your competitors.
They will come up with stupid stuff all the time.
Like FIOS has hidden fees and taxes, etc... Bottom line is that I have more channels and my bill (with fees and taxes) is lower than CV. My computer is faster than before. And I never have interupted services on the TV.
