Finger sucking
My 11w old likes to suck her middle two fingers when she is falling asleep. She also does it when she's getting hungry. She sucked her thumb in utero and her fist for the first few weeks of her life. I've tried 8 different pacis and she hates them all. Any tips on getting her to stop?
I hate thumb/finger sucking since I know how hard of a habit to break later in down the line.

Re: Finger sucking
When she is older (I did it about 1.5 years), we wrapped DS fingers in surgical tape. Took 2 weeks. He never sucked again.

Finger sucking
DD sucked her fist, then fingers, then thumb when she was very young. She never liked a paci either. She only did it to fall asleep and wasn't addicted all day long or anything. Eventually she just stopped on her own, I'm not even sure when. I'm not sure I would worry about it this young. Maybe try introducing a lovey when she gets a little older.

DS never would take a paci and went through a short finger phase. I wouldn't worry too much about it now....they need soemthing for the first year due to all the teeth.

Re: Finger sucking
Finger sucking is a very normal way to self soothe. I wouldn't try breaking it when your baby is so young. Nobody will judge a baby for sucking her fingers. Worry about it when she's much older!
