Fighting the bottle for nighttime feeding

THe last few nights Seamus has been fighting us tooth and nail during his bedtime feeding. During the day he is an angel and sucks down every drop of all his bottles. When its time for his last bottle of the day, he screams bloody murder and we dont know why. He usually will drink 7-8 ounces at bed and we can barely get 4 ounces into him the last few nights. He is still sleeping though. Maybe he just isnt hungry?
I tried giving him Mylicon and that didnt really make a different. Its like hek nows its bedtime and he doesnt want to go.
On Monday night he drank the whole bottle for my MIL. Sunday, Tues and last night he screamed when DH tried to feed him. Dh had to hold his arms down because he was just flailing (sp) all other the place.

Any suggestions?

my suggestion is DO NOT hold him arms down or force him to eat, I think that will make things worse....if he is not hungry, let him be. He will eat when he is hungry Chat Icon

Is he really tired before you put him down?

My DS fights his bottle every night also, but it is because he is SOOOOO tired that he'd rather sleep.

Can you try giving it to him 1/2 hr earlier?

What time is his last feeding? I agree with PP, don't force him to eat if he doesn't want it. Babies won't let themselves starve. If he's hungry, he'll let you know. DS eventually started dropping feedings and ate more during the day instead. Maybe he's going through the same thing. So long as he's gaining weight and thriving, that's what matters most!

I agree with the pp. My dd does the same thing when she is really tired. She would rather sleep than eat.
If he is still sleeping through the night I definetly wouldnt be concerned. He is obviously getting enough. GL.

Re: Fighting the bottle for nighttime feeding

It sounds to me like he just doesn't want it.

My DD is like that when she doesn't want her bottle. When she does want it, it doesn't matter how tired she is - she'll drink it right down (with her eyes closed if necessary). When she doesn't she'll knock it out of my hands!

Follow his cues. If he wanted it, he would take it.
