fifths diease vent
I am so upset right now. I am not immune to fifths disease and once again there is an outbreak at my school which means I have to leave my classroom. This is the third time since I have been pregnant. Unfortunately the incubation period is 2-3 weeks and I will not be able to return to school for the rest of the school year. I am just so sad.
Sorry for the vent, but I just feel so bad for doing this to the kids. However, I know I am doing the right thing for the baby.

I worked with a teacher who was a veteran and had to spend her pregnancy subbing throughout the district because of the outbreaks...needless to say she wasn't too happy about it!

Sorry , I can relate sort of. I just found out that I am not immune either. I am not a teacher,but have a 3yo and 1yo in daycare and a child in my DDs class just had it. Its so frustrating bc there isnothing you can do to prevent it. I have to go back for more bloodwork in a week to see if I picked it up and pray inthe meantime that my girls don't get it.

Hey girls, what is fifths disease and when/how do you find out if you are immune or not..I just went to my first drs appt after finding out, so I don't think they took many tests yet...havent even gotten my first sono yet...so not sure when you find out...thanks so much! and you are doing the right thing..there is nothing more important than taking care of your baby

they do that test during your first big blood work-up... but you can also do what i did and ask your mom  if she knows that you had it when you were younger, you are automatically immune to it now.

I know how you feel. I had to go for the blood test and I am immune but I remember those days not knowing 
My niece and nephew had it and it just so happened I was with them the entire weekend.
