Fields at Jones Beach
I was wondering if you have any preference for Fields. I was hoping to find one that wouldn't be SUPER crowded. I'm heading there this weekend with 2 of my friends and they both have small children, which = LOTS of stuff to be carried. I know one of the fields (4 I think???) is nice and quiet but its like a ridiculous walk down to the water.
I want to head there early but Field 6 fills up so quickly i don't think we'll make it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Fields at Jones Beach
Since they're really little you might want to consider Zach's bay beach. That's the one that's right near the theater. It's much less crowded and the water is totally calm so your friend won't have to worry as much about the kids playing on the shore.
Just a thought...
ETA:
And parking for that beach is REALLY close to the actual beach so you won't have to hike it with all the kids stuff.

If Field 6 is closed then I take the extra ride out to Robert Moses.

Hmm maybe- but the kids are too small to even play in the water. They're literally 7 mo and 20 months. So being near the water is more for the adults

Not to be argumentative, but my DS is 20 months old and if there is water, DS is IN it

LOL- I don't have kids so I have no idea about when these things happen. They all seem like babies to me In my mind, if they're not going down there unsupervised, its kind of a wash

Actually Field 4 is NOT the quiet one.. its the most crowded one in the middle, right where the big tower is. If you get there too late to get into field 6, i suggest going to field 5 - its entrance is on the other side of ocean pkway from field 6, going west. if you go in there, and go to the eastern most entrance of it, its a nice stretch of beach that a lot of people don't usually go to
Field 2 is the nice quiet one, but has a loooooong walk that makes it a pain.
Or, i'd suggest point lookout as another option as well

totally worth the drive to Robert Moses...all the fields there are like field 6, just walk through the dunes and the beach is right there.
