Field Station Dinosaurs - NJ - REVIEW

Someone posted a few days/weeks ago about this new park.

I thought I read on the website that parking was free - they must have rethought that because parking was $10.

They only had portapotties and considering we were there on the first day, they really smelled. Plus the seat in the ladies room was on a platform making it really difficult to go.

We walked into the park and they take your tix and give you a passport. As you go thru the park and see shows, you collect stamps to fill your passport.

DS (4) was scared of the first one. I told him it was fake but he wouldn't go anywhere NEAR the fence.

We went to the 2nd one which was bigger and for some reason he believed me then. Then we went back to the first one.

He had a GREAT time, even got to touch 2.
I think we saw about 30 dinosaurs - he thinks its more like 100 million dinosaurs.Chat Icon Chat Icon

They only had one stand selling water/juice/soda ($3) and popcorn $6 - they don't check bags so you can bring your own snacks/lunch.

The fossil dig part wan't open yet and they were still working out some kinks.

The trail dumps you out in the overpriced gift store but you can get out the entrance if you want to avoid that.

I'd go back, maybe next year. If we lived closer, I think I'd get a seaon pass.

It is semi-stroller friendly - lots of hills, but smooth "roads" for the most part.

PS - there was one section that you walk past that had some tractors in the fenced area. I told DS they were "tractorsaurous" but he didn't like thatChat Icon Chat Icon

Is it just walking around looking at dinosaurs? Is anything interactive? Playground?

They had a few shows - family feud, matching, feed a Dino. Mostly it's self guided, walk around and look at the dinosaurs. They sell 5,000 tix a day online. You can see a count of how many are left. You do save some money buying online even with the service charge.

It wasn't crowded, but there were a lot of people.

Thx. I actually looked at the website last week and didn't really understand what it was, haha.
