Fever viruses- question about nighttime

Those that have had kids who have had a fever virus lasting 5 days or so...

how are they at night?

We're told my son has a fever virus and the past 3 nights, he's been getting up every 1-2 hours at night.

Normal?

Just wondering if i need to bring him back to the doctor to be checked for something else. We brought him on thursday and did have a throat swab done. But no results yet.

Re: Fever viruses- question about nighttime

My ped always says it's normal for fever to last up to five days. If it lasts longer or new symptoms develop, bring them back in.

Are you giving Motrin before bed?

Tylenol. The tylenol seems to do more for him than motrin during all of this.

The thing is, he seemed okay before bed. A tiny bit warm, but not hot. And yet he's still waking up every hour. Chat Icon

Re: Fever viruses- question about nighttime

My DS usually wakes when the Motrin wears off, but not every one or two hours if it's just a fever, however, when he's had coxsackie or an ear infection he does wake several times a night. I always give Motrin at night because it lasts longer.

Good luck!
