fever question----UPDATE in OP

dd is almost 6 Friday night she had a fever. Sat am still had one but went away with TYlenol. Didn't have one for the rest of the day until the night. Gave tylenol. Sunday am nothing prefectly fine. Acted normal, bouncing around around. LAst night around 6 fever again. This am no fever so far.

Is this normal?I am keeping her home today from school b/c she spiked to 101 last night.

She complained of a headache and belly hurt during the fever but no other times

Update- i took her in and nothing. Flu negative. Ears, throat fine. She's bouncing around like normal. Her temp is fine. Dr sadi could be roseola and to watch for rash. If it spikes again tonight, call in the AM. They wanted to test urine to rule out UTI but she couldn't give a sample. I can bring one in, when I can. I'll wait until tomorrow

Re: fever question

I'd bring her to the dr. It could be viral, but it could also be something else. DS had a fever last week, no complaints that anything hurt, but he had strep.

Re: fever question

If take her in to be checked, since there is so much going around right now and it's been a few days, but I think it's pretty typical for fevers to come back at night. Could be a fever virus too- DD had that back in the fall, no other symptoms aside from spiking fevers at night for about a week. Hope it's nothing more serious and she feels better soon!

fever question

I would take her in. Two friends on Facebook went through the same thing last week, both kids had the flu.

The flu is very rampant right now. Where as most years cases would be dwindling down at this time, this year it spiked in mid March and is still going strong.

Yep and even people who got the flu shot seem to be getting it. Must be a strain going around that was not in this year's shot.
Wonderful!

fever question

I would take her in. My dd had low grade fever, throwing up, belly aches. Would have no fever in the morning, would rise in the afternoon, most nights no fever until the middle of the night then throw up again.
She tested positive for Strep. Then 5 days later she got an upper respiratory infection on top of the Strep.

fever question----UPDATE in OP

Hope she gets better. Good that she's mostly feeling ok though.

Fevers under 102 don't bother me. I don't med her until she hits 101 only because I figure that's the body's defense to burn off whatever's bugging her. If she's otherwise fine, lowering my daughter's fever only prolongs the infection or battle.

That said, 72hrs is my max. After that she goes in. So far we've only ever had one day that has happened in grade school.

There's a tummy bug going around down here
Allergies are rampant because of the season change
Flu isn't as bad, yet

She never gets fevers. She's almost 6 and this is the second time ever it's been over 100 so that's why it was weird. She's fine and has been around 97.7 all day. So she's def cool and better. Hoping it stays that way.
