Fever after stitches?

Has anyone had any experience with a child getting a fever after an injury? DS (4 yrs old) had to get stitches on his chin Friday night after he fell at a carnival. The next morning (Saturday) I took him to our ped who said the stitches looked great and to come back in a week to have them removed. By Monday, he had a bad reaction to a bandaid I applied to his chin so back to the doctor we went. They gave me an antibiotic just to be on the safe side but by late that afternoon he was running a fever. The next morning (Tues) the fever was gone but last night (Wed) the fever returned. Fever hasn’t been over 100.5 but I’m going to call the Dr again. I have no idea if the fever is related to the injury or if it’s is completely unrelated and just viral. Anyone have any experience with this? Stitches don’t appear to be infected and like I said he’s been on an antibiotic for the past few days.

I would just monitor and not really worry. 100.5 is barely even a fever so it might just be a reaction to all that has happened.
