Fetal Echo Cardiogram?
So I had to go back yesterday for my level 2- the first time he wasn't cooperating. Last night he was curled up in a ball and wasn't cooperating either so now I have to go back next week for a fetal echo cardiogram. Is this test normal? I cant remember anything I had done with my son (he will be 4 in Feb) so I'm a little nervous.
Am I over reacting or is this test the norm?

Fetal Echo Cardiogram?
Do you have gd or are you high risk? If so, it is normal protocol to have one. It's just a long sonogram.

Re: Fetal Echo Cardiogram?
I had a fetal echo done towards the end my pregnancy due to reports of a 1/2 sibling born with a congenital heart problem?
It was a long sonogram but I don't think I would have had one since everything else about my pregnancy was "non-eventful".

Re: Fetal Echo Cardiogram?
I had a fetal echo with this pregnancy and not my first two. i am with a new practice and they are a little more cautious than the last one.
It is just another scan, no big deal.
took about 40 mins or so.

Re: Fetal Echo Cardiogram?
I had one due to a potential heart issue. It's basically a super detailed sono where you can see all the chambers, ventricles, etc of the heart.

This happened to me as well after my level 2. My dd was is a bad position and we couldn't get good images of the heart and chambers. Went for two more sonos and finally we went for the fetal echo. All went well.

Re: Fetal Echo Cardiogram?
This is exactly what happened to us, too. DS was curled into a ball and wouldn't let the tech see his heart. I went back later and his position was under a fibroid of mine, which was casting a shadow. Just to be cautious, they sent me a week later for a fetal echocardiogram. Again, DS wasn't cooperating so it took a while until he got into a good position, but finally they saw that everything was ok!
It sounds like the exact same situation with you. I wouldn't worry about all. Just be excited to see your LO again! You will get to see all 4 chambers of his/her heart really clearly. It's actually kind of cool.

Re: Fetal Echo Cardiogram?
I had to have one with this pregnancy because my DD1 was born with a very small VSD. It's standard to have one with any other pregnancies because it can be hereditary. Mine took maybe 30 minutes. Fortunately, no issues.

Re: Fetal Echo Cardiogram?
I had to have it twice! I was born with a congenital heart defect so it's protocol to have one and ensure baby didnt have it. The first time they didnt get all of the pictures they wanted to see, so we had to go back. It's just like an extra long sono. Don't worry!
