Fetal Echo?
Has anyone had this done? The genetic counselor that we saw prior to my amnio is recommending that we get one for this baby because a congenital heart defect runs in my family, especially in males. Does anyone have any info on this? Is it done at your regular OB's office?

Re: Fetal Echo?
I had it done with my latest pregnancy (#3). There were certain risk factors I had, so checking the heart for any abnormalities was recommended.
I had it done at the high risk place I had been going to (also had my CVS testing done there as well). It was a sono of the baby's heart, which lasted about 45 minutes. I am not sure if my regular OB could have done it, but it may be possible to have it done at your OB's office if they have the right equipment.

Re: Fetal Echo?
I had it done because I am a diabetic (pre-pregnancy). I had it done at 22 weeks at my perinatalogist's office by a pediatric cardiologist. It was no big deal, just a very detailed ultrasound of the baby's heart. Luckily, everything is fine with the baby!
I'm sure your baby is fine too - good luck!

Re: Fetal Echo?
I had it done with my first, but not with my second. Now with my third pregnancy they recommended it, but I said I would wait until the level II results before making my decision. Just like PP said, its like a sono specifically of the heart. It was done at a specialist's office..Dr. Rose from Good Sam I believe.
