I am 29 weeks, my dr believes my baby may have a fetal bowel obstruction. I have to go back in a few weeks for a follow up sono. Does anyone have any experience w this?

Re: Fetal bowel obstruction

I don't recognize that being mentioned. The dr did say its possible that there could be twisting, but that didn't sound likely

My niece had this. She had surgery after she was born and was good as new.

Re: Fetal bowel obstruction

Glad to hear that she's doing well. Do you know how long she was in the hospital after the surgery?

Just overnight, maybe 2. It was until she kept so many ounces down. She's was fine about a week later and back to her normal self. She's a spunky toddler now with no side effects.

Wow...that's good to hear. If my DD needs this when she is born I hope it goes as well as your niece. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Fetal bowel obstruction

i was planning on delivering at Huntington, but if the baby needs surgery then I will deliver at NSLIJ in new Hyde park.

How is your DD doing? How long was she in thhe hospital?

That had to be a really awful experience to have it be an emergency. Sorry u ha to go through that . That is one thing I am glad about...we will know before I deliver, but still upsets me so much. Been crying most of the day.

I know how u feel. My DD was in the Nicu for 25 days. We spent Christmas and New year in the Nicu. She's doing okay. The Ped surgeon is Dr Kessler he's great doctor I know he practice at NSLIJ too. I gave birth at Winthrop. Take it easy I know its hard but you need to for the baby. Remember it can be fix.
