Fertility consultation advice
I called and set up an apt but I have 2 questions.
1. If I'm not pg by then then it will be 9 mos of trying which feels like an eternity to me but will they say I shouldn't have come before a year?
2. I will be spotting/AF - will that affect the appt? They will be doing a sono.
I am seeing my gyn that week too. Will they investigate anything for me?

Re: Fertility consultation advice
for my 1st consult we had only been actively trying for 2 months but I have PCOS so this underlying issue would make conceiving more difficult for us...they did not do a sono at our 1st consult...they did take blood for genetic testing and when AF came they did a CD 3 sono and more bloodwork. My gyn had us do SA, HSG and glucose tolerance.

Re: Fertility consultation advice
For insurance purposes you may have to say its been 12 months...I know my insurance wouldn't allow me to see an RE without getting approval beforehand and part of the approval process was to say that i'd been trying for more than a year. But I don't think the doctor will turn you away for coming sooner than a year! As for having your period, I would just ask the receptionist what will be happening at the appt, for my consultation I was told I would have a consultation and an exam (the exam was a transvaginal ultrasound). I've had transvaginal ultrasounds when AF was present so I don't think that should be a problem. During the consultation exam the RE determined that I have endometriosis (which was a shock) so I would just keep the appt and not delay getting checked out. Good luck! I hope everything works out for you

Re: Fertility consultation advice
A lot depends on the RE youre going to. Some insurance states that you have to be trying for a year so you should check on that first.

Re: Fertility consultation advice
Depending on your medical history/age the trying period can change.
What CD will you be day of consult? If you are close to day 3, this could be in your favor. RE's like to draw blood and do an u/s on CD3, to get an idea of your body works and what protocal (meds, dosage, start time) to use that month.
