Fence recommendations

We are looking into getting our fence replaced and we are unsure about what kind to get -- we've heard the white pvc fence is great from some people and then we've heard from others it's awful, etc. We kinda like the white fence....

so what kind of fence do you have? do you like it/recommend it? how much did it run (about)? and what company did you use.

thanks Chat Icon

Re: Fence recommendations

We used Liberty Fence (we got estimates from 3 and they were the cheapest). Ours is a 6' PVC fence that encloses our entire backyard and one gate. We paid $2500.

Our fence stood up very well in that horrible wind storm we had a few weeks ago. I highly recommend Liberty.

do you think a 6' fence would be too much for the right side of our house (if you are looking at it from the street)?

I like it for the privacy. The parts that face the front have that lattice so it's only semi-private. You can always have them do 6' around the back and then drop to 5' or 4'. My ILs have 5' and then it drops to 4'.

Re: Fence recommendations

i am with you - like the white pvc clean look but after a few years i have seen neighbors fences turn horribly discolored, you need to power wash a few times a year but you do not have to worry about rot which a wood fence brings. Wood fence you do have to power wash but not as often (unless you like to worn look which some people do.)

Its on decision i am not looking forward in doing.

That's a good point. Our neighbors used Liberty a few years ago. We didn't even know when we had our fence going up. There are some companies that don't use that good material so the color will discolor. Liberty uses the good stuff so it won't discolor.

Re: Fence recommendations

We will be using Liberty Fence. We just hired them a week ago, so it would be installed soon. They were the cheapest quote we got. They have their own manufacturing building right next to their office in West Babylon and from what were told them, they use "Virgin PVC", not recycle PVC. Some companies use recycled PVC. Liberty Fence comes with a good warranty, they put cement in their gate post all the way to the top, not just at ground level like some companies. For us, the price was right for some front fencing, 1 single gate and a double driveway gate. We are happy with our decision so far. Also, Liberty Fence calls "Dig Safe" (Link ) before they start any project. Dig Safe comes to your property and makes sure that all of your utilities have marked the property for water lines, sewer lines, gas lines, cable or phone lines that might be in the ground. Dig Safe basically does all the foot work to make sure all the utilities place their marks on your property. We really liked that Liberty Fence does this and no other fence company we went to even mentioned this. Of course you can call Dig Safe yourself and have this done. Better to be safe then sorry.
