Feely Box i& other ideas for a spooky party....Suggestions?
DS wants a "spooky" birthday party ( October)
I would like to do some feely boxes..
I figured maybe:
cold spaghetti= brains melon balls= eyeballs Jello= ????
I'm having a brain freeze on anything else Suggestions ??
I want to do a mummy wrapping contest, maybe a scarecrow making contest, some kind of treasure hunt maybe...
Any ideas for other "spooky" games (keeping in mind most of the kids are 7 and under) ??
Thanks

I'm hoping to do a Halloween bday party too. Here are some of my ideas that I've found in addition to those boxes you described.
Spooky pumpkin game: Hot potato but with a carved pumpkin instead
Bobbing for apples
I may have the kids make "dirt". You prepare chocolate pudding and put it into individual cups and then have a giant bowl of crushed oreos and they can scoop that in and mix it up and then maybe gummy worms they can add so it's dessert and an activity as well.
I also saw a cute spider web pizza dessert. You bake a crust adn then smear yogurt and then make a web with chocolate sauce.
I saw some Halloween crafts too. YOu can buy a sticky pumpkin decorating kit so there's no carving involved. and lots of others.

I like the dirt idea
Here are a few games we are doing:
Mummy wrapping contest
Scarecrow making contest
I'm also going to buy 2-3 jointed skeleton decorations and take them apart and scatter them in the yard (divide the kids into teams) to see who can get their skelton together first...
I did the pumpkin decaorating a few years ago and it was a big hit..If we have time we may do that again too

My girlfriend has a halloween party for the kids every year. The scavenger hunt is a huge hit for them. She does it at night and puts glow sticks around the clues.
She also fills those latex (non-powdered) gloves with water and freezes them to put in the punch.
The head on the platter STILL freaks the kids out even though they know it's coming and they've seen it 100 times! they put together a mock table with a big metal bowl as a dome in the center. And when you pull off the dome - AHHHHHHHH! There is her husband's head on a platter of lettuce leaves! He opens his eyes and chases the kids - cue tag game.

Re: Feely Box i& other ideas for a spooky party....Suggestions?
One year at the PTA haunted house my mom was in charge of the feely boxes and the last one felt like a working heart. I don't remember everything, but she had her hand in a latex glove and kept her hand in a fist and would slightly open and close it when the kids touched her hand so it felt like it was beating. I think she wrapped a few strings from my lacing set around her hand under the glove to feel like veins, and she probably smeared a little jello or vaseline on it to feel slimy. I bet if you google there would be better instructions.

Re: Feely Box i& other ideas for a spooky party....Suggestions?
I did this with my Brownie troop and it was a HUGE hit with the kids. We had the girls sit in a circle while I read the things below as a story. We passed around each item in a bag at the appropriate time. I was awesome.
One of my favorite Halloween party games is the “Mad Scientist” game where guests feel the “body parts” that the Mad Scientist is using to create his monster. You can line the “body parts” up on a table or counter and cover each with an upside down cardboard box with a hole cut out of the bottom. Each guest sticks their hand into the hole and feels the “body part.” Write the name of the “body part” on the outside of the box, like “eyes,” “brains,” etc. The trick to the game is to keep the lights low so guests can’t see what the real contents of the boxes are. For this game you can say the following if you wish:
*Here is his brain, which now feels no pain. (a wet squishy tomato)
*Here are his eyes, still frozen with surprise. (two frozen peeled grapes or olives)
*Here is his heart. Be careful lest it start! (a large lump of uncooked liver)
*Now we have his hair, which once was so fair! (a handful of corn silk or wet fur or yarn)
*Feel these drops of his blood. All the rest turned to mud. (a little catsup thinned with warm water)
*One hand all alone, just rotting flesh and bone. (a damp plastic glove filled with red gelatin or ice)
*Now touch his ear. He nevermore will hear! (a dried apricot)
*This is his nose. T'will never smell a rose. (a pickle, a hot dog or a soft chicken bone)
* These worms are all that's left to feel. For them, this body was a lovely meal! (wet spaghetti)

What about a Mummy wrap, where you break them up into teams, give them a roll of toilet paper and they have to make their partner into a mummy.
