Feeling Guilty
There is a "Mother's Day Tea" right now at DS's daycare. He's 6 months, so I know he doesn't even know... likely he'll be asleep in a matter of a few minutes at this hour. But I feel so guilty and sad that I'm not there. I was thinking I was going to go, but then I realized that I had NO time left at work (between the 2 day vacation we took to Florida and my grandmother's passing and funeral services), so I couldn't go. I'm sitting here at my desk trying so hard not to cry. I know he doesn't know, but I still feel horrible. I love what I do and I really like the people I work with, but I'm starting to really resent being here after 4 months back at work. I began the slow process of finding a new job already, I'm just having a sad day.

Re: Feeling Guilty
I think you spent your time off from work better to be honest...a 2 day vacation is better quality time. Hopefully next year you'll have a better job and will be able to pop in for Mother's Day tea where you'll get to the door of daycare and your 18 month old will run to your arms!

Re: Feeling Guilty
I know how you feel- while I would have been able to attend DD's Mother's Day Teas, because I can work from home etc- I was away on business trips the past two years!
And now this year, that I am NOT away and could have attended, they didn't have one.
Go figure!
Just my luck

I agree...I'm sure he loved being with you 24/7 for the extra time!! Time off much better spent!

Re: Feeling Guilty
It's daycare. People bring their kids there so they can go to work! I only make weekend events at my kid's school. They plan 2 a year. The teacher emails me. Don't even feel a twinge of guilt... I actually think the teachers understand me better being I work (THEY are working full time too).

I agree, but at the same time I know exactly how you feel. I feel like I miss so much out of my DC lives because of work. I don't think I'm going back after this baby.
