Feeling dejected
8dpiui and I'm crampy. I know I'm not out till af comes but I just found out my job's ins doesn't cover IVF. I already knew dh's didn't and we don't have out of network coverage. And financially we can't afford IVF. Just got me down thinking a couple of more rounds of iui's and if not pg kinda at a standstill. Just upset and pissed that ins companies consider IVF an elective procedure.

Feeling dejected
I hope that you are not out this cycle...you may still get pg with an IUI...dont count yourself out
also you may want to look at grants for IVF or even mini-ivf

Re: Feeling dejected
An IUI might still work - be optimistic!
Like a PP said, there are always grants that you can apply for.
Speaking of IVF being "elective" - I was talking to my friend about it recently and she was like I completely understand why it would be considered elective. I wanted to scream!

Re: Feeling dejected
I know it's so much easier to put stock in the negative... but with just one injectable IUI under your belt- which you don't even know the results of yet- I think it's way too soon to just assume you will need IVF. Just cross that bridge if you come to it, but for now I'd put my energy into THIS protocol.
Good luck!!

Re: Feeling dejected
First of all, crampy could be implantation. I felt a dull pulling sensation when I got my BFP and that was the embryo settling in and getting comfy. Don't get down yet!
Second, didn't you just start seeing an RE? Let the RE do his/her job. It sometimes takes a few protocols to get something to stick. In any given IUI round, you have ~20% chance of it working. You need to be patient and have faith that it will work. If you're healthy, there's really no reason IUIs shouldn't work for you.

Re: Feeling dejected
I know, I know, I know. You are all right. I am just ocd and like to have all my ducks in a row and to prepare. My problem is I dont know a single person IRL who got pg with iui's everyone had to go onto IVF. And one minute i am super positive and the next moment I am doom and glloom. Yes, I just started seeing an RE but we have been ttc since last Jan so its frustrating as you all know.

Feeling dejected
I know a lot of people who got pregnant doing IUIs. Take a breath and focus on your efforts now. As much as there are symptoms of things, we never really know what is happening inside until we get proof, so take care or yourself and keep a positive frame of mind. You might have an embryo in there depending on it.

IUI's DO work...and like a PP said I wouldn't count yourself out yet nor would I even think/stress about IVF yet either ... you just strated seeing your RE and have one cycle under your belt...have faith in your RE and the process...Unless there is something wrong with you or DH that you NEED IVF then there is no reason why IUI shouldnt work, ya know? Stay POSITIVE!!! We are all pulling for you... also keep in mind there are grants and you can get and donated meds to bring the cost down should that be a main concern in the future...

Feeling dejected
you maynot know me in real life, but i got pregnant with an IUI and since you just started seeing a RE, i would let them work their magic before you become all morose over what may or may not happen. I am firm believer in keeping a positive attitute and good things will come your way!

It took us 6 IUIs....but I finally got my BFP! It is possible! I felt so upset and deflated by the 6th one...I thought for sure it was IVF. I had heard that if it doesn't work after 3 your chances are pretty much 0 of it happening. But its possible so try to stay positive

I've heard to try the same protocol no more 3 times and then move on. But that means you can do 3 clomid/femara IUIs, 3 injectable IUIs. By then it would probably be time to move on.
But again...you are so far from there. I wouldn't even count the IUIs with an OB since they don't monitor you the way an RE does. So you're really just at the start of your journey!
