Feel Bad
So a few weeks ago my senior shih tzu started bleeding really bad from his mouth. Found out he had some abscess in his gums most likely from dental disease. My vet will not clean his them to remove any build up because he doesnt want thim under anesthesia due to his age. So every few months he will need to go on ant bio and everyday i need to use a special mouth rinse everyday. good thing is the bleeding as stopped and the abscess are gone.
I feel bad because when he was still bleeding I had him sleep in the kitchen with a conehead on so he wouldnt make our bed look like a murder scene. I also had his sister with him too. Turns out he was fine with but she hates it I've always had them sleep in the bed with me but ever since being pregnant they will not leave my side for anything during bed time which makes it so hard for me to turn and get out of bed. Now I think I might leave them there during the week. I sleep so much better without them in the bed but I miss them so much
The little one either cries at night for 30mins or starts at 530am. The old man could care less.
The each have their own bed but when dh when downstairs this is how he found them. Guess she really needs her big brother.
HOLY SHIT!! THIS IS A LONG POST!! SORRY Image Attachment(s):

Re: Feel Bad
Keep them out of your bed and get a good night sleep. Start getting used to it because honestly, when the baby comes, your dogs will be in the second place. As much as I couldn't fathom this ever becoming true, my first fur baby became just that...a dog.

Re: Feel Bad
I dont know yet from experience but my two girls (dogs) are our babies. I truly believe they will always be just as important to me/us today as they will be when our daughter is born. I know people say otherwise but guess thats just me then. Id never look at my girls as "just dogs" .. I just wouldnt. Im not judging anyone else I just know how I feel about them.
That being said Roz, Id feel terrible too but I also agree that you have to be comfortable and do whats best for you. Right now my two dogs sleep in the bed with us as well but as big as our bed is its getting smaller the bigger I get so we may have their beds in the bedroom and have to retrain them to not want to get in the bed with us at night (WAHH! HATE THAT!)
Is there a way you can have their beds in your room without them wanting to get in the bed with you?

Re: Feel Bad
I dont doubt when shes born things will change but my heart and gutt tells me i will never treat them like dogs. They require so much love and attention i just cant see myself ever stoppin.
Cant have them on the floor in our room. The little one will just jump right up and the old man will just cry until we pick him up because he can no.longer go up stairs. Ive tried in the past.
I know they will adapt to the change and its best for my body but when will i adapt? Wahhhh. Poor me

I'm going to have the same problem. I have a 7 year old and a 5 year old and they have both slept with us since day 1. If I try to keep them off, they think they did something wrong. Its heartbreaking

Re: Feel Bad
maybe get them a bigger dog bed if they are going to share so the cone doesn't get in the way so much?
