FedEx delivers to local post office?
Has this happened to anyone? Ordered my holiday cards back around the 6th. It was supposed to be delivered by yesterday (Wednesday). Checked the tracking with FedEx. It states...packed delivered to local post office ( very early morning time stamp) then it say...please allow one to two additional days for delivery? Why would FedEx send it to the local post office?
The sad part is everything I ordered for Christmas AFTER as in more than a week later is either here or arriving today with the same company.

FedEx delivers to local post office?
It's called "smartpost" and yes, it does take longer. It's more cost effective for them. Usually once it arrives at PO, mailman delivers the next day.

I know but I paid extra for shipping rather than the free to get it sooner. I do not pay anything but used free shipping on the other items that I ordered Friday. I already have them or are getting them today. Just annoyed because I paid extra and it was supposed to be delivered BY yesterday not delivered to the USPS. My mail carrier is horrible (never the same person, often getting neighbors mail, getting things on the 20th some months postmarked the 2nd. I need the cards which is why I paid extra for them. I will be lucky if I get them now by Monday.

I agree with MAZZ we deliver many many packages from fedex. We even now have an exclusive with amazone prime....so no fed ex there either.
You have to remember we are the only comp that goes door to door. This saves them ton of money. If you paid for extra shipping they it should be coming priority or something. If you tracked & know the PO has them...call them. They may be sitting on a pallet waiting to be unloaded.

If you paid extra for shipping you got screwed. Ask for your shipping back. Smartpost is the slowest service out there. There is no slower service.

That is BS, I would contact the company. Smartpost is SLOW!!! Many places use it, and it sucks. American Girl, Amazon, Kohl's just to name a few!

Where did you order from?
I agree with pps - I would ask for your money back. A lot of companies are doing this - sending via Fedex or UPS to the local post office to save $$ but, it takes longer. I've only seen this happen though when you opt for free shipping.

I would demand the shipping back. UPS has this relationship with the USPS as well as fed ex. It does take an additional day or two to receive your package. As the other girls here wrote it saves the vendor money to ship this way. I could see them using it for free shipping, but not for prepaid shipping. I would be really upset too.

unfortunately both UPS and FedEx now work with the post office and transfer packages to them for deliveries...it stinks!!!
i would call up and complain since it was supposed to be to you yesterday - you should get a refund of shipping charges

They were shipped FedEx on 12/9 and as I tracked them, I saw that they arrived at my local PO on 12/12 and I didn't receive them until 12/14. I was so annoyed because I ordered the cards on the 4th!!!! It never used to take 10 days to receive something from Shutterfly.

Cant understand why Fedex or UPS partner. The USPS is losing money fr a reason...great idea. Whenever i see smartpost I cringe as it rarely is fast. I had an issue this weekwith piperlime and sure enough--they used smartpost and the intelligent post office somehow had the package rerouted to another state via fed ex--I had to call and explain the problem as to why it didnt make any sense.....why was it going back...a misscan I got as the reason.

FedEx delivers to local post office?
I thought only UPS uses that cheap drop off method. I had no idea FEDEX did too. Now I probably will not get the gloves I just ordered last night. Sigh.
Smartpost doesn't work for me because I live in hamlet that does not have home delivery and my mailbox is a different zip. The local post office with my residence zip bounces everything back to sender. I have started to refer to it as "Dumbpost" because anytime it is used, I do not get my order.

amazon just did this to me this week with a package. It was supposed to be two day prime shipping by UPS. They had post office deliver and it took 4 days. UNACCEPTABLE in my opinion....

This exact situation. The mailman delivered lose photos (blow ups) from shutterfly yesterday but NO other mail. No cards. Hoping they come today. I was up all night though with a bad stomach bug so the last thing I want is to address them now

I actually just heard if you have prime and your package doesn't come in time, you can call them and they will give you a free month of prime.
