Federal Jury Duty in Central Islip Questions

DH has to report for Federal Jury Duty in Central Islip tomorrow. We currently only have 1 car and I have to drive him to and from so I have the car to take DD to and from school and dance.

Can he bring his cell phone and check it? He'll need to contact me to come get him or to pick him up at a train station.

Is there a cafeteria or food available? Not sure if I should pack food for him, of if he can even carry it in.

I was on Federal Grand Jury duty at Central Islip for two years - every single Tuesday. We were only allowed four absences and they had to be OKed ahead of time.

He will have to check his cell phone at security. And, there is a sunny cafeteria in the building.

We used to be able to bring bottled water or coffee up but I don't know if that is still allowed. There is a kitchenette off the grand jury room where coffee can be brewed. We rarely did so.

I found Grand Jury duty fascinating. I got to hear stories from all sorts of people - FBI agents, postal agents, police, drug dealers, con artists - and got insight into corners of the world I only knew of from TV. Some of what I heard and saw was repellant, a lot was truly interesting.

I came to realize that in many cases life is more astonishing than any movie. No one would have believed some of the stories I heard had they seen them on a screen. I also learned that criminals, even highly educated ones, make the most astonishingly stupid mistakes.

IM on call too there for jury duty
I called and do not have to report

On the brochure t said to leave my cell phone in my car. Im assuming for people that take the bus, etc u can check it.

If I get called I hope I can bring food n water in bc IM 8 months pregnant and cant sit there without water lol

Yes, of course you can check your phone at the security desk..and I am sure there are food options available - I doubt the people in the entire court house would be forced to drive outside the premises to get a basic sandwich. If you pack any food for him, security may just force him to check it..I've been to CI a number of times (granted I whiz through security w. my attorney pass) and I've not heard anyone had an issue with food or cell phone use. Your man is a big boy, he can handle it
