fed up. The movie/ documentary
I saw this and would like to discuss it. Anyone see it? I consider myself well-rounded but I was surprised at some of the evidence.
Did it change anything for you? What an eye opener!

Oh I love food documentaries. I'm going to watch this tonight. I read a few reviews and apparently a lot some of the facts are wrong and not scientifically correct.
I'll get back to you.

Re: fed up. The movie/ documentary
OK I watched it.
I appreciated the idea. Obesity is a definite concern. I also don't like the marketing that is done.
That being said, it's like a lot of other food documentaries. They throw a lot of "facts" to make their points, but it kind of reminds me of fear mongering.
I found this link to be interesting http://www.foodinsight.org/FedUp-review (it breaks down what is true and not true in the documentary)

Re: fed up. The movie/ documentary
i'll be reading the link.
i had mixed feelings about the movie.
i felt it didn't give an "answer" to the issue. it just said there's a problem. i felt it left the family with the obese boy out on in the cold without real info.
i think there was a lot that could have been dealt with better.

I enjoyed the documentary as it opened my eyes on the food dynamic in the schools, which was something I wasn't aware of. I watch a lot of food / health related documentaries as well. Where I don't think there was a ton of new information or really any solutions, I think it was an important topic that still needs light shed on it. For me, I actively seek this information from multiple sources, but not everyone does that.

Re: fed up. The movie/ documentary
I thought it was an excellent way to open people's eyes to the growing obesity epidemic.
Ok, some of their data was not entirely accurate or left pieces out, but it still sends a message about how overindulgent our society has become. Hearing that
I didn't expect this documentary to have all the answers to the problem. It was informative nonetheless.
You can't say the sugar in a pepsi is the same as the sugar in a piece of fruit. They are different and your body uses them in different ways. Same problems with the marketing of "low fat" and "reduced fat" cookies, candies, chips, etc. They just replace the fat with sugar or a sugar substitute, because if you just took out the fat, the foods would taste like cardboard.
But I digress lol. All in all, I thought it was a good way to highlight the main issues with obesity.
