Try the platex straw sippy cup. You can squeeze the sides so some water comes out. It helps them learn what to do. It took us some time but one day he just picked it up & started drinking from it!

Favorite first sippy cup?
I never did sippy cups with DS, and IMO it was one of the best decisions I made. I went right to a straw cup, started with the small playtex little grippers cup. You put water in it and can squeeze the cup slightly so it comes up the straw then your dc will realize its there and kit have to work so hard.
I used that cup for water only for a few months before DS really got the hang of it. After that I bought the bigger playtex clear cups (for water only) when DS was about 10 months old I bought the insulated playtex cups and started giving him his mid day bottle in one of those. About 11 months old I started the transition to milk (1oz milk / 7oz formula for a few days, then 2/6, 3/5, 4/4, etc) when I got to 4/4 I started giving him is morning bottle in the straw cup and when he was on full milk i changed over the bed time bottle to a straw cup and moved around our bed time routine so eventually he was getting his milk cup about a half hour after finishing dinner.
So many times I have heard of kids not transitioning off of bottles, or not drinking milk out of anything but. I was lucky DS transitioned so easily, but I like that there was one less for him to deal with by going right to a straw cup. Plus his Dr and a speech therapist I know both said that straw cups are better for oral muscular development anyway.
Good luck!!

I agree with the others. Skip the sippy, straw cups are much better for oromotor development. And I also recommend the Playtex!

Re: Favorite first sippy cup?
I heard the same as the PP and got DS the playtex one. He picked up on it right away. But my one complaint is that it only seems to let them suck up so much at one time and makes him back wash like crazy. So now were trying the Munchkin straw sippys with the flip top lid. He drinks more easily, but they leak and the straw seems to need to be jammed in there as tight as possible to let him suck up any liquid.

Re: Favorite first sippy cup?
That Tommee Tippee one is the worst! I tried it myself and practically hurt myself trying to drink the water out of it. DD did well with these Playtex straw cups first:
