Faux nail help
So another lovely side effect of chemo is that it destroys your nails. It caused mine to lift and some of the nail bed is exposed so they are pretty sensitive and polish won't help much since they are really short.
So, I want to get a set of fake nails tomorrow. I haven't done this in years. What kind of options do they have now and what can I expect to pay? TIA

Re: Faux nail help
I would stay away from anything that uses the UV light to set it. I am not sure how it would react to your skim from chemo. I know my MIL takes methotrexate and she can't go in the sun at all.
U think I would stick to a traditional silk wrap. It is the easiest to soak off to, on my opinion. I want say a new set is probably around $50-$75 depending on where you live.

Re: Faux nail help
I wound up going with an Acrylic Permanent French. I didn't like the idea of exposing myself to the UV light, I already have some age spot issues.

I feel the same way about the UV but I have had my nails under the machine. I looked online and there is actually very little known about the UV machines used in nail salons even though they are "approved." There are very few places that do not use it. I get permanent french acrylic and I usually either get talked into the UV gel top coat or I take it because I am in a rush and it dries so quickly. Did they offer it to you? I'd love to find a place that does not keep pushing it.
