Farmingdale

As I mentioned in another post, DH and I are just beginning to casually looking for a new home. We aren't set on a specific town but we want to stay in western suffolk or maybe even very eastern nassau.

How is the area in Farmingdale over by the president streets...I guess it's considered south Farmingdale?? I go out in Farmingdale to the bars on Main St. and I go to the movie theaters on 110 but I really don't have any idea of the neighborhoods. TIA! Chat Icon

Do you mean the area by the High School? There's a Lincoln St. and a Washington St. but I never thought of it as a "presidents section." If so, I like it there. The streets are wide, houses are well maintained, and it's quiet and residential. I don't know if you have kids but it's zoned for Woodward Pkwy Elementary, which is one of the better schools in the district.

Re: Farmingdale

I live in East Farmingdale so I'm still in suffolk but its farmingdale schools. We have been here for over a year and love it. Easy commute into the city.

We wont stay here forever but that's just cause we will outgrow our house at some point.

It's by Lincoln Ave., not Lincoln St. I guess I made up the Presidents section lol...the streets off Lincoln are all presidents' names though...Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Jackson, Polk, etc.

and we don't have children yet but the schools are very important to us b/c we are looking to start a family soon.

eta: It's further east of the H.S. on the other side of 110

Oh! Over there. That's East Farmingdale. I'm not too familiar with that area, sorry.

That side of 110 is a lot busier-feeling to me, and less quiet/residential. And it would be zoned for Saltzman Elementary, not Woodward Pkwy. Saltzman is where the kids in that area and the kids from Amityville zoned for F-dale go.

I would not buy over there if you paid me. It may have a Farmingdale address but I would consider it Amityville. It is also VERY industrial.

I am in East Farmingdale but on the other side of 110, btw 109 and conklin.

I agree. It's not the greatest area.
