Family friendly outdoor lunch
So, my Dad is coming to visit me this weekend and I wanted to take him somewhere where we could sit by the water and have some seafood. Something very Long Island, and casual/fun. Our little one is 2 years old and want her to enjoy it too. Clubhouse in Bellmore looks great, but hubby thinks we should just head to Freeport and find a restaurant, since there is more to do after we eat. Any kid friendly favorites on the Nautical Mile?

I agree with Freeport. You can walk and get ice cream after, mini golf.

I think most of the Nautical Mile restaurants are child friendly, especially for lunch or early dinner. We've been there with the kids and it's always fun!

Re: Family friendly outdoor lunch
We were at Bracco's and Tropix the past 2 weekends for lunch with all 3 kids in tow. They were both fine. The food at Tropix was eh at best so if you want great food, skip that.
What about going to the restaurants at Tobay? They have a playground and a kiddie beach.

Thank you everyone. I think the Nautical Mile makes the most sense, since we can get ices and go to the park, etc after lunch. I do want really good seafood, though....both me and my Dad love our shellfish. We just don't want anything fancy (which is why I was initially leaning towards the clubhouse or Pops). Who has the best mix of low key, fun vibe but really good seafood on tyhe NM?

If I am being honest, I don't think I have ever had good food on the NM. Rachel's has the best food IMO but it's the best of the worst IMO. If you are going for just fried seafood or clams on the half shell type of thing, any of those places should be fine.

I was kinda figuring that out by reading all the horrible reviews. Going to try and convince hubby that we should dine at Salt on the Water or Clubhouse in Merrick....and then drive the quick 10 minutes after for some ice cream and a walk on the NM. Thank you for the honesty!

Not sure where you live but there is a seafood night at sunken meadow every night till middle or end of July. I think it's $25 pp for lobster, muscles, clams and I don't know what else.

walls warf in bayville. We've taken the kids and had the kids play in the sand right near our table which is great.
