Families with Dogs, does your pup chew your DC's toys?

my dog Norton chews up DCs toys everytime we leave for work.
He has his own toys (bones, bears and a kong full of treats when I leave), but he was brazen enough to take DC's toy off the counter!!!!!!

SO now I have to collect all the toys every morning and lock them in the den.

We give him tons of attention, but he seems to be depressed, as he obviously doesn't get more than DS.

And to make matters worse.......Norton LOVES stuffed animals, so it's hard for him to distinguish whats his and whats DS's.

Anyone have this problem? Chat Icon

When Thunder was younger, he chewed EVERYTHING in the backyard - even the deck. The boys learned the hard way that they had to clean up their toys - or the dog would own them.Chat Icon

I am no expert, but I don't think there is much to be done when they are teething. Thunder is restricted in our house to his own 'room' and the kitchen, den, office area. We made sure that there were no toys around when he was unsupervised - but other than that we took no special action.

ETA: Norton will probably adjust soon! It's like going from being the ONLY child to having a sibling who takes some of your spotlight. He's got a loving home and soon your baby may become his best friend!Chat Icon

We have the opposite problem.... DC take all of the dog's toys.... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Our dog doesn't chew many things, so they'll be lying around for quite a while. DS has claimed the dogs ball that lights up when you shake it, and there is another nubby toy that both DC like to play with.... Chat Icon Chat Icon

our dog has chewed up many of DD's toys already...mainly the stuffed ones...i think she FINALLY realizes now they are not her toys...we do make sure they are out of the dogs reach and sight when we are not around...i dont want her to eat something that she can choke on in the case that she decides she needs to "play" with one again!

Same here. We lost the poor kid in the wheel chair on the school bus and recently Noah met a bitter end.

Surprisingliy our dog has never eaten any of Kailas toys. There's been a couple times I've got him with it in his mouth but he'll spit it right out.. we have the greatest dog we really do!!!

Yep, I collect all DS toys, bibs, etc every Am and put them out of our dogs reach. And we block the door to the play room so I dont have to worry about that stuff.

Our dog is obsessed with Jack's toys. It's so annoying!

Yes but I am home some I stop him right away. You can also put a DROP of mouthwash on the stuffed animals - supposedly it repels the dogs.

I've seen dogs eat a tube of toothpaste.... I doubt a drop of mouthwash would stop them.... Chat Icon

Re: Families with Dogs, does your pup chew your DC's toys?

Oh yeah. Hailey, who is 8, loves DS's toys!!! I guess it's hard for her to tell what is hers and what is his. Sara, who is almost the same age could care less but Hailey has always had chewing problems. So, we've learned to put everything away whenever we go out. Or, risk losing something!

What is it about the little people??? Those are Hailey's favorites!
