Facebook deactivation
I deactivated my account. I only log on when I need to get in touch with someone. Just don't want to use Facebook at this time. Since I reactivated it a few weeks ago, twice it activated and I didn't know. I got email notifications this morning and went on and sure enough it has me activated. This never happened to me. I am thinking of deleting the account permanently. Is there any other way?

How many times have you gone on to get in touch with someone? I would think your account reactivates each time you logon.

I would agree with this.
What's your end goal? If you want to use it to see people, you have to friend them since most folks these days shut their accounts down for privacy. Means you need an active account. If you don't want to have others post to your wall / feed then you can stop that. I'm 'offline' for chat at all times. If you only want to see a few friends then unfriend the rest.
What are you trying to avoid on FB?

It does but then I deactivate it again. Since this last time, twice that I deactivated, I got emails of notifications on my account. Sure enough when I looked, my account was activated

I may change my mind and permanently activate it at some time. I recently had to get in touch with someone on there due to finding out someone passed away and the only way to contact them was Facebook. So every once in a while I use it for that. Activate it to make contact with that person. Then I deactivate, which the last two times I found out it was still activated.

Facebook deactivation
As soon as you log in again your account is automatically activated. It's not a button or anything that you check to re-activate. When you deactivate your account, your page is hidden from everyone. I get a lot of fake emails that that says someone requested a new password which no one did. If you check the email address of the sender it is not facebook.

When you deactivate, there should be something you check to opt out of future emails from Facebook. Make sure that it checked. Also, if you have messenger there should be something asking if you want to stay signed into messenger. I'd think that to be signed out of too each time you deactivate.

It sounds like one of these were my problem. I deactivated again now and it seems like it stuck this time. Thanks.
