eye turn/farsighted

My dd is 3 1/2 we noticed before Christmas that her right eye was slightly turning in towards her nose. We made an appointment to see a pediatric ophthalmologist that came highly recommended. They did a bunch of testing and said she needed glasses and that she is farsighted and her eye is straining to see hence the turning in. We got the glasses and now months later I notice that when my dd takes her glasses off her eye is worse than ever. The doctor during our last visit said this was normal and "measured" her eye turn and said it was the same (this visit was a couple of months ago) My next visit is in July....has anyone gone through a similar experience? I thought the glasses were to fix the turn eventually.

Are you seeing Dr. Kodsi? That's who my son goes too. Same issue. Is it strabismus? yes, when his glasses are off, it's terrible-his eye doesn't stay straight AT ALL.

I don't know if the turn will ever completely be fixed, but I think it gets better. I know with my son, she mentioned we may have to patch his 'good' eye to force the weaker eye to be used. He just got glasses in March and it's like night and day.

I feel so bad. I had no idea his vision was this bad.Chat Icon I asked her if he will always need glasses and she said probably, yes, but when he is older he should be able to wear contacts if he wants.

I am going to Long Island Pediatric Ophthalmology in Plainview...I feel bad too.. My dd wears the glasses all the time and loves them, probably because she can see so much better with them on. Did your doctor ever mention surgery to correct the eye from turning? my next visit I am going to ask about it.

I had strabismus and had corrective surgery for it when I was 15. At that time, they wanted to wait until the eye muscles were fully developed before operating. But, I've heard of children having it done now.

It was the best thing my parents could have done for me. I was always self conscious about people noticing my eye turning in. I wore glasses from the time I was 2 and then contacts from 13 on.

It's been 20 years and I've never had a problem since.
