Eye Oogies

Emily has had some eye "oogies" aka eye gook and crust in her left eye since yesterday. I keepcleaning it out with a warm sterile cotton ball but it comes back. I read in my what to expect the first year that in the first month thier tear ducts develop and they can just be clogged and it's normal, but it still worries me.

I called the pediatritian but since they are called I felt silly calling the emergency number so I didn't. Her eye isn't red or light sensitive or anything so I don't think it's an infection.

What should I do??

Just keep cleaning it. Sarah had that when she was a week old and it took about a month to clear up. It was worse when she woke up and when she was crying.

Her tear ducts might be clogged. My dr said it was normal and will correct itsself. Massaging between her eyes will help.

The area at the top of her nose between her eybrows and near the tear duct.

Mallory had eye oogies until she was like 3 or 4 months old....the Dr said it was just clogged tear ducts, just put a warm compress on ( Chat Icon she just loved that!Chat Icon ) and then massage from the corner of the eye down the nose... it'll go awayChat Icon

Re: Eye Oogies

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! It is already seeming better today. She still gets yellow oogies in the corner of her eye when she cries but she didn't wake up all crust at all since yesterday! Yay!!!
