Eye Glasses for Toddler

We took DS (17 months) to the eye dr and was told he needs to wear glasses. We picked them up Tuesday and yesterday he seemed to wear them for 10-30 minutes at a time here and there (I thought that was a pretty good start and thought today he would do even better). Well now I cannot even get them on his head. Does anyone have any tips or methods on getting him to wear them? TIA!

DS was a bit older when he got his, but we just made it sound really fun to wear them. He wears them all the time. He has 2 pairs so each morning he picks out the pair he wants to wear. He likes to be called "Professor" when he wears them, so even his daycare teacher calls him that. Just try to make wearing them as fun as possible! Maybe try positive reinforcements - like a sticker when he wears them all morning and another in the evening?

My DS started wearing glasses when he was 1. From 2-3 years old he did not want to wear them at all. Persistence is key. If he takes them off, put them back on. Just keep at it. I always told DS he has special eyes like me and that's why he gets to wear glasses (not has to wear glasses). He'll get used to them in time. At 5 now he puts them on himself and goes looking for them first thing in the AM.

Persistence. Remember in the beginning it can feel really weird for them (even though they can see better they have no perception of what better is).

My son got glasses at 3. In the beginning it was really hard to get him to wear them (the first pair went down the stairs and broke the 2nd day we had them! We wanted to kill him! After that we always have a backup pair now.).

Honestly I had to distract him a lot in the beginning and bribe. Lol. Like he got the iPad but only if he wore his glasses. He got to watch Mickey Mouse on TV but only if he wore them, etc. I also remember holding him a lot on my lap singing silly songs about glasses. DH and I both wore our glasses around him (DH has contacts and never wears glasses but he did for him and I only have for reading which I use sometimes at work so I brought my pair home) a lot in the beginning.

We also had a family glasses party! It was my sister's idea. We bought cheap sunglasses and punched the lenses out and had the family over and everyone wore a pair and we had a bbq. It was actually a lot of fun.

Now he is 5 and he grabs them right away as soon as he wakes up.

Thank you! It's been a real struggle the last week. He thinks it's a game taking the glasses on and off. We know it's gonna take a while I'm just nervous his eyes are going to get worse cause we can't keep them on him.
