Eye contact/smiles
When did you notice your LO making more consistent eye contact and smiling. My daughter smiles occasionally, but not often (although often in her sleep). She makes eye contact occasionally, but usually is more interested in looking around. She also doesn't respond to our voices- like she doesn't turn if we are talking or making sounds. (She passed her hearing test). She is 8 weeks, born 3 weeks and 2 days early. I'm going to mention this all to her ped at her 2 month check up, but is this a concern?

Eye contact/smiles
This happened for us at about 10 weeks. By 12 weeks she was babbling non stop. It seems like forever when you'er waiting for it to happen.

I think 8 weeks is still early, I'd say closer to 3 months.

8 weeks is still really early to worry about this. Give it until 3 months before you worry. By 3 months babies tend to become more aware.

My DS just turned 3 months and I'd say he started smiling in the last 2-3 weeks. A few more weeks and your little one will be there!

Just now as I was changing her diaper, she flashed me a brief smile twice. It was like she was saying, "Done worry mom! I will get there!" I almost cried haha

DD is 13 weeks and she started smiling at 7 weeks but they were hard to come by. Now at 13 weeks she smiles all the time. I would say that started within the last 2-3 weeks. Give it some time. It'll happen!!

That's awesome! I always got the best smiles on the changing table when DD was a newborn. I would keep the poor girl on there forever for each diaper change bc I loved those smiles. I even remember holding my laptop over her once skyping with my grandmother so she could see her smile!

Remember, she can only see a few inches from her face. She can see contrast and black and white. I wouldn't worry. Keep doing what you're doing and she'll be fine. Lots of interaction and show her lots of contrasting stripes or swirls like the blinds or a banister.
