extending a basement
Has anyone done this? We are going to turn our garage into a two car garage, and put an addition on top of that. I was thinking that we should dig down as well, and extend the basement.
Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to dig down? Thanks

I don't know what you mean. Just extending the basement further with nothing on top of that? I didn't think you could put a basement under a garage...

You can do *anything* with the right amount of money... 
A basement under a garage would need a lot of support. Probably multiple steel I-beams to support the weight of two+ vehicles.
