Explain the injectible process?
I went to the RE this morning for more blood work and sonogram... none ofthe pills they tried worked so they said to come in Thur to meet with the doctor but the next step is to start injectables.
What is this process like? Do you inject yourself everyday? How do you know when to inject?

Re: Explain the injectible process?
you'll get a calendar of meds and/or the doc will tell you when to do the injects, usually its either morning or evening. the only one thats truly time sensitive is the trigger shot for IVF.
for stimming for TI or IUI cycles you would do either straight injectables (usually gonal-F or follistim) or a combo of pills (clomid/femara) with the above mentioned injectables. in general most non-IVF stim cycles do one inject a day for a few days or every other day for a few days - but it depends on your issues. the amount of days you have to inject depends directly on your response, some people stim quick, others slow. if you have blood clotting or immune issues you may have to do more than one inject a day. also you can inject yourself or you can have DH inject you. my first cycle DH did all of my injects, but every cycle after that I did my own.
all of the basic stim injects are sub-cutaneous (meaning under the skin) and the needles themselves are really small and you really dont feel that much. you would do the inject in your belly. its not as bad as it sounds!!

Re: Explain the injectible process?
I'm doing an injectable cycle now. It's not bad at all. I have done them in the past also when we were trying for DC#1.
I started my injections on Day 4 of my cycle. All it is is 1 small injection each day in your belly. You don't even feel a pinch, the needle is very small and thin. I'm on Day 7 now and have no side effects at all from the injections.
I will go for monitoring on Monday (Day 9) and then we will see how many follicles I have. Then we will find out when I will "trigger" (which is another small injection in the belly that tells your body to ovulate the eggs you have been creating with the meds). After that, I will go in for an IUI (intrauterine insemination) where they will inject DH's sperm via a small, thin catheter.
It's a pretty easy process overall! Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions, I am happy to help.

Your follies will mature. The injectable medications will keep your follies growing and growing until they are mature, then the trigger will tell your body to release the eggs.
